Fancy's Story

We are very saddened to share that our precious Zoey crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.

Run Free, Sweet Zoey!

March 10, 2013.

Everyone who met Zoey knew she was a very sweet and loving girl.  One glance into her beautiful brown eyes would melt your heart.

We would like to thank all who have generously donated to her care as well as those who have kept her in their thoughts and prayers.  We are very thankful for Steph and Dan who cared for and loved her to the end  ~ Thanks :)

Zoey was found at a local shelter in December, 2012. She was a thin dog with a poor coat with a constant shake of her head.  When we brought her out of her kennel for some love and special holiday treats, she looked at us with her big brown eyes and we could feel every bone on her frail body. She let out a yelp when we rubbed her ears.  It turns out she had a severe ear infection in both ears.  It broke our hearts to leave her that day.

Within a week Sunshine PAWS was formed and we knew Zoey would be our first life saved and we would get her healthy and find her a forever family. So that's what we did!  We took her to the vet and got her medicine for her ears and her skin. We gave her a bath and brush and snuggled her, too. At first Zoey was improving.  Her ears got better.  She put on a few pounds. She was becoming more active and always enjoyed her late night snuggles. She even passed her CGC Test!

Zoey continued to show signs of allergies so we put her on a special diet with supplements and we washed her every three days with a special shampoo ... but she was showing little improvement.  After another trip to the vet and treatment, Zoey began throwing up and within 48 hours became very lethargic.  Back to the vet ... where they tenderly treated her dehydration and anemic condition.
In the end, we were unable to save her life, but are grateful for all who helped us care for her in her final days.  She was truely loved.  All who knew her will miss her!

If you would like to make a donation to help with medical treatment for Zoey you can:

Zoey Finds A Special Foster Family!

Zoey was released from the animal hospital and is now in the care of her wonderful foster momma and pappa.
We were very saddened by Zoey's test results which show that she is in renal failure and her kidneys are damaged beyond repair.  At this time Zoey is happy - she is not in pain - and she is responding well to her daily therapy of IV fluids, special diet and medication.  Zoey will continue to make weekly visits to the vet to assess how she is responding to her treatments.
We are so very thankful to Steph and Dan, "Zoey's Foster Angels" for bringing her into their home, loving her, and continuing with her therapy.  We know that they will provide Zoey with all the love she can handle while she is in their care!

Thanks to all who have helped Zoey live a full life in the days that are left for her!  We are grateful to you all.
